The Muskies are moving in Hodag Country. With an early musky season this year, boats are already on the water scouting for upcoming tournaments or just enjoying the thrill of the hunt.

This weekend marked the opening of fishing season! I hope those of you that came up had good luck and were as pleased as we were that the weather man was wrong again! We had two beautiful but windy days this weekend and I know I saw at least 50 boats on my way home Friday so I hope you had fun.

Another mark of the start of the season was piers going in. Because of the late ice-out, many piers that would normally have been in weeks ago, were being put into the water this weekend. I know my brother in law put in 6 this weekend and typically he would have been done by now.

One last thing, for those of you that check this blog often, I apologize for the spread in entries. I am having trouble getting logged in for some reason but we are working on a solution so stay tuned. I certainly haven’t forgotten about you :O) And THANK YOU for reading!

We’ve been very lucky to have at least some sunshine every day for the last week or so. But today looks like we will break the cycle. Grey and rainy and chilly for the next 3 days is all the weather man is calling for. Only 40’s on Sunday for heaven’s sake.

 AND, Snow showers are possible on Sunday…. EEK! Rain ok but snow NO!

I have a mother Robin that keeps landing on my office window sill. She’s still a bit skiddish so I haven’t been able to get a picture yet but each time she stays a little longer so maybe soon I can get a snapshot. She’s nesting in the pine tree about 25 feet from my window.

There is green outside my window!!!! And not pine tree green… but real green grass. We are crossing our fingers that Spring is actually here and tomorrow, just to drive the point home, we are getting RAIN showers…. rain rain rain! Not Snow!

Today is a good day to fly a kite in Hodag Country. We have 20-30 mile an hour winds but it’s still in the 50’s. Perfect weather for a good early kite flying outing. We are expecting sun tomorrow and did actually enjoy sunny skies this morning but showers are in store for Thursday…. but  at least it’s RAIN showers this time!

Friday is not the day to travel to Hodag Country. If you are planning a trip to Hodag Country for the weekend PLEASE either leave Thursday evening or Saturday morning. We have some extremely wicked weather heading our way and travel conditions will be dangerous to say the least. Please be careful, stop if needed, and we’ll see you when you get here…. Just remember we want you safe and able to enjoy your stay.

Okay, Old Man Winter really needs to retire for the season….. We are expecting 4-6 INCHES of snow tonight…. AGAIN….. and we just got to bare ground. OY! Just keep remembering it will be 50 by Tuesday… It won’t last long…. It’s just a last stitch effort by Jack Frost… it’s good for the water levels… come August we will be praying for precipitation of ANY kind….

 Okay, I feel a bit better… Deep breaths everyone.

Spring is finally here! I saw two robins today and a bunch of Junko’s eating my bird seed..not long before this snow will be gone! Can’t wait to see everyone!
