Oneida County is part of a region that has the fifth largest concentration of freshwater lakes in the world. The crystal clear waters and sandy beaches of Oneida County’s many lakes are a playground for watersports enthusiasts. Boating, waterskiing and water tubing are popular activities throughout the summer. Numerous boat launches make accessing these many lakes easy, and a number of resorts, rental cabins and lodges are located right on the water.

Paddlers will find endless waterways to explore in Oneida County. The Northern Highland–American Legion State Forest offers a number of undeveloped lakes that are perfect for quiet canoe and kayak trips. The Willow Flowage is among the wildest places in the Midwest, offering paddlers fantastic scenery and wildlife viewing opportunities.
